Agency History

The original agency was formed on June 1, 1967, and was named the Cuave & Johnston Insurance Agency. Owners Neville L. Cuave and Charles Ray Johnston saw the agency begin a steady growth with hard work. In 1969 the Stout and Spann Insurance Agency was purchased and merged with Cuave and Johnston Insurance Agency.

On July 1, 1992, Cuave & Johnston Insurance Agency was sold to Gerald Scriber, an agency employee of fifteen years. The name of the agency was changed to Gerald Scriber Insurance and moved to a location in Winnsboro. At the time of the sale, the agency was underwriting $4 million in annual premium.

The years following this acquisition saw rapid growth aided by the purchase and integration of several independent agencies. A branch office was opened in Madison Parish during the fall of 1998, with the purchase and combination of two Tallulah agencies.

The dawn of the new millennium provided the light to see that the agency had tripled the $4 million annual premium since 1992.

In 2005, another branch was opened with the purchase of a West Monroe agency.  This purchase along with the agency growth pushed the agency size to 15 million in annual premium.

On January 1, 2007, the Tallulah branch was acquired by Tensas State Bank, dba Cottonland Insurance Agency.  The offer was to good to pass up, however agency income was reduced which led to many changes.  With the Tallulah branch gone, the agency turned attention to the West Monroe location which has seen a tremendous increase in production in 2007.

On January 1, 2008, Insurance Unlimited of West Monroe was purchased and merged into our existing branch service location.  In addition, we relocated the office to 2000 N. 7th Street Suite G.  This purchase has increased the West Monroe book to the largest premium volume for a branch office that we have experienced to date.

The agency expanded again in July 2010, with the purchase of the long established Lewis Insurance Agency in Richland parish.  With offices now in Winnsboro, Rayville, and West Monroe, Scriber Insurance Agency set out to be a major factor in the insurance marketplace for northeast Louisiana.
